'Impact'. This was the title of the Lebanese edition of the Franciscan march that took place at the end of August. Sixty-five young Lebanese set out and for just four days left everything behind to enter into dialogue with the Lord. Br JIHAD KRAYEM Responsible Franciscan March - Lebanon The Franciscan March in Lebanon is different from the others. It is in fact a little shorter, done in four days because the young Lebanese work and cannot take more time. We managed to organise the march in spite of everything the young Lebanese are going through: economic problems, problems of belonging, fear for their future. HE Bishop HANNA RAHMA Bishop Diocese of Baalbak We thank the Lord. This is a beautiful activity. It is a cultural teaching. Just as the Apostles of Emmaus met Jesus on their journey, these young people also walked, thought and prayed together to meet Him. The backdrop is the Baalnek region in the famous Beqaa valley. Inata, Barqa, the Marian sanctuary of Bshwat, Der Alahmar, Buadi and Shlifa. These are the stages of a difficult journey made up of meetings, prayer, reflection. Br JIHAD KRAYEM Responsible Franciscan March - Lebanon One thing that makes the Lebanon march special is the participation of the whole Franciscan family. The Lebanon march not only sees the participation of religious men and women from other Franciscan communities but that we all work together to organise it. The young people on the march experience different things: life together, together with religious men and women, but they also experience true joy. They are an explosion of joy: they laugh, dance, sing, walk ... all together. MIA MARY SHABIB It's my second march. We feel like one family, we share an experience, although we each have our own personal baggage. And this unites us and connects us to each other. The march teaches us that in the fatigue and pain when all you think about is the weight of the rucksack, or the pain in your feet, or how difficult the walk is, it is necessary to stop and contemplate not only the experience of that moment but also to look back and see the path that has been made. It teaches us, that despite the difficulties of the moment, the important thing is to remember the ones we have already overcome, thanks to the strength that our Lord gives us. The march helps us to understand that not only the Lord is close to us, but also our community. We are not alone in our journey. Br JIHAD KRAYEM Responsible Franciscan March - Lebanon One of the special things we do together, we send young people in groups of 2 or 3 to certain villages to experience charity. They go to the houses in the village and ask for the possibility of having dinner with the family. It is a strong experience that they live. One thing that surprises me is that when they are going, they leave full of anguish, sadness, not knowing what to do, what they will experience. But the surprise is seeing them come back, all full of joy, enthusiastic. Each one tells what they experienced, how they were welcomed, what they ate.... And this is really nice!
