Beit Noah: a special place for "special" people

PAUL NORDHAUSEN Pedagogical Director - Beit Noah – Tabgha In the beginning the idea was to recreate Noah's ark. So, everybody can come in and all the different kinds of people can be saved. PAUL NORDHAUSEN Pedagogical Director - Beit Noah – Tabgha This was the initial idea…Later we discovered that Noah has different meaning, which is “rest” ... this gave a very appropriate additional meaning to the place. So not only a place of retreat: Beit Noah is home, it is welcome, it is love! Located on the shores of Lake Tiberias, in Tabgha, at the foot of the 7 springs, it stands in the same places where Jesus loved to retreat to pray, meet people and teach. (Mt 15:39), on that lake of life that He chose to heal the sick.... Fr. JONAS TRAGESER, osb Prior Benedictine Monastery of Tabgha Beit Noah is a Benedictine project from the very beginning. The story of the multiplication of bread is commemorated in this place: "Come aside to a lonely place and rest a while!" A Gospel that comes alive here in Beit Noah, because people can come and rest: from their anguish, their suffering, their loneliness PAUL NORDHAUSEN Pedagogical Director - Beit Noah – Tabgha "Here one can find a haven of 'safety,' of love and peace, everyone in their own way. It is a place of deep spirituality, and I think anyone who comes here can feel that immediately. Here they find a "home" ready to welcome over 30 Israeli, Palestinian but also international institutions that care for those living on the margins of society. For a symbolic price they manage to bring happy moments, to bring a smile back to those experiencing hardship, to experience a nice vacation. The help of volunteers, American and German, is crucial! PAUL NORDHAUSEN Pedagogical Director - Beit Noah – Tabgha We have a team of six young volunteers who stay with us one year. To me this is the greatest gift we can receive: young people giving a year of their lives to help others. Simple housing, a communal kitchen, a barbecue area, a brazier around which to sit... At Beiit Noah everything is done in a way to be together. Here Architectural barriers fall: everyone finds hope! Fr. JONAS TRAGESER, osb Prior Benedictine Monastery of Tabgha They come to us to be in this wonderful place, in this little paradise, for themselves, in silence, in meditation. Here they find themselves, meet again, enjoy this place and perhaps find a new inspiration for their life PAUL NORDHAUSEN Pedagogical Director - Beit Noah – Tabgha We always say that through the gate, up there, human beings enter, not Palestinians, or Israelis, not Jewish Christians or Muslims: we try to welcome the human being. This is our first greeting PAUL NORDHAUSEN Pedagogical Director - Beit Noah – Tabgha We invite all of you to share what we have, and if possible, come and visit us.
