From the Holy Land the release of a new edition of the Bible, in the spirit of dialogue

The presentation of a new edition of the Bible published by Gruppo Editoriale San Paolo began in the Holy Land as a sign of dialogue. An invitation to "scrutinize" the Scriptures, to read them in depth thanks to a method, that of "scrutatio". Through numerous notes and references, it leads the reader between one book and another of the Bible, recovering the rabbinical and patristic reading of the Scriptures and thus rediscovering the importance of dialogue with Judaism. Rabbi DAVID ROSEN Director of the Department of International Interreligious Affairs of the AJC "I do not believe that there is anything in history comparable to the transformation that took place within the Christian world, and in particular in the Catholic Church, with respect to the relationship with Jews and Judaism. We find ourselves today in what we can describe as the "golden age" of relations between Catholics and Jews. The challenge is not to rest on our laurels: a new generation is coming forward, new children have been born, new priests have been ordained, and they do not necessarily understand the enormous historical significance of this transformation: we must ensure that this treasure, of which we have the gift of being the recipients, is passed on to future generations." "We Christians are rooted in the origins of the Jewish faith and the Old Testament," explained Fr. Francesco Voltaggio, priest of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem among the curators of the work. The new work will be rich in thematic insights updated with the latest archaeological discoveries and will soon be available in several languages, including Chinese and Arabic. The virtual launch, together with Rabbi David Rosen - who has long been engaged in dialogue - took place in the very places where the Bible was born. Fr FRANCESCO VOLTAGGIO Curator “La Bibbia. Scrutate le Scritture” - Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem "Here we are in touch with history: the Word of God became flesh in a people, in a concrete land, and therefore it is fundamental to know this environment, the stones, and to walk in the invisible footsteps of God that have manifested in this land.
