In Jerusalem, after the intense celebrations of Holy Week at the Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher, it's the day of the Resurrection Mass on Easter Sunday. "Christ is risen! He is truly risen!" The proclamation of Easter Eve still resounds loudly on Sunday. Easter Day Mass was presided over by H.B. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Patriarch of Jerusalem of the Latins, who in his homily invited those present to proclaim to everyone the new joy that breaks into the world today, a joy that cannot remain enclosed in this place, but that from here must still reach everyone, in every corner of the earth. The Patriarch invited us to reflect on the situations of death that surround us: "It is enough to look around us - he said - and we find reasons to worry and feel overwhelmed by death, wars, pandemics, its victories and its stings". But - he added - "from here, from Jerusalem, in front of this empty tomb, we announce to this Church and to the whole world the true peace that has sprung from here". A peace that only Christ can give: "Only the encounter with the Risen Christ can give us the true resurrection, a full life, which makes us stand in the world with the passion and strength of free and redeemed people". At the end of the celebration, the joy of Easter was announced with the proclamation of the Gospels of the Resurrection from four different points around the aedicule of the Holy Sepulchre, corresponding to the cardinal points: a symbolic gesture of how the proclamation of the Resurrection from Jerusalem reaches every corner of the earth. After the proclamation of the Gospels of the Resurrection inside the Basilica, the celebration continues through the streets of the old city of Jerusalem, with the ancient and ever new proclamation: "Christ is risen! He is truly risen!"
