Just a short walk from the Basilica of the Nativity, in Bethlehem's Dar al-Majus Center, the Pro Terra Sancta Association hosted the works of Franciscan friar Gianni Mastromarino. On March 2, in an evening of art and music, the Franciscan exhibited his artwork created in about a month's work. Br GIANNI MASTROMARINO, ofm Bologna - Italy "The idea of doing a service here, in Dar al-Majus, and doing it through art was born. We thought of making this wall with an installation that emerges mainly through wood, a living material, which I love very much, because it is a living expression of nature." Br GIANNI MASTROMARINO, ofm Bologna - Italy "I am very attached to St. Francis, because of my vocation, I am very attached to St. Clare and I am very attached to nature. Touch gives me the possibility to perceive what wood transmits to me as raw material. Wood already has its own vitality and to make it even more alive through images that come from my creativity for me is very satisfying, it is a very positive feeling, which transmits even more life to me." The evening was opened by the presentation of the Pro Terra Sancta Association's programs for training its team, in particular a training exchange with Italy. Present were, Br. Ibraham Faltas, deputy custos of the Holy Land, Italian consul general in Jerusalem Giuseppe Fedele, regional director of the pontifical mission in Jerusalem Joseph Hazboun and a group of local young people. Br GIANNI MASTROMARINO, ofm Bologna - Italy "I take away with me so much affection, another acquired family, so many faces, so many looks. I take with me even more the desire to work for this place, to put myself again in service for this place, not only in Bethlehem but throughout the Holy Land." This evening is part of the ongoing efforts of the Pro Terra Santa Association to carry out cultural activities in Dar al-Majus, to be a bridge between East and West, the local and international community.
