Christmas Eve in the city of Bethlehem
2018-12-24 16:44:50
In the city that looks like heaven, two thousand years after the birth of Jesus, the expectation of Christmas for local Christians and pilgrims from all over the world is lived with intensity! Despite the winter colds, the sun gives a special light to the day!
Fr. IBRAHIM FALTAS, ofm
Discreet for the group of oriental languages
"Here there is the whole world, a lot of people; all of Palestine is here, more than 30 groups of scouts have come to attend this Christmas, I really think this is the beauty of Christmas. It is a beautiful message to all the world that Bethlehem is calm, open, you can breathe tranquility and people want to celebrate, they want to be happy "
For those preparing for entry into the Grotto of the Nativity, the expectation was great and in the long queue one waits with faith.

"It is exciting to go where Jesus went and to be here, in the place of his birth. We are here, right now, in the place of his birth and .. What to say more? I think all this speaks enough. "

"It is significant, for us who believe in him, to be in the same places as Jesus, especially in the place where He was born. In which he came into the world for us. Being here today is beautiful. The celebration is very festive, thus very exciting. We are very happy!"
And after having kissed the star that indicates the place where Jesus was born...
MIRIAM RIBEIRO DE CARVALHO
Archdiocese Rio de Janeiro - Brasil
"The emotion was endless, I realised that God descended to become a man, he bent, he was emptied, the movement I made to enter that cave, as if it were my deepest intimacy, and thank God for the birth of his son, it was just to lower myself: an experience of humility "
JOSEPH GIORDANO

"Being here, being here where Jesus was born ... Wow, I just saw the place where Jesus was born, it's exciting, and it's also interesting to have the opportunity to see other religious presences here like Armenians, Orthodox and Catholics. "
Another important moment was the entrance of the Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem in the city. This is one of the few times in which it is possible to cross the wall that divides Jerusalem from Bethlehem without passing through the check point.
Walking among them, the Archbishop showed that the church is outgoing. He wanted to pay attention and wish a Merry Christmas to all those who were waiting for him.
H. E. Mons. PIERBATTISTA PIZZABALLA, ofm
Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem
I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. There are many problems, many challenges but on Christmas we remember the incarnation of God. God visits us and, when he visits us through Jesus, we have everything: joy, happiness, peace and we will be at peace with him here on earth!
And for those who were here on December 24th, the experience was certainly unforgettable
Bispo AURELIAN GOIANI
TANZANIA
It is the first time I come here during the Christmas season. I can understand what happened two thousand years ago, when Jesus was born to save the world and, like a mirror, I also remember when Jesus was born in my life so I feel good, I feel safe!
ERIC HUI

"I'm very excited, there are many people, I'm in this holy place right at Christmas, I'm very, very happy, I realised it last night, I really slept for 3 hours, I'm so happy to be here today! "
Now we are preparing for the moment when, once again, Jesus will come!
