OVERCOMING THE LANGUAGE OF ARMS. FEAST OF EPIPHANY, ORTHODOX CHRISTMAS AND BAPTISM OF THE LORD IN THE HOLY LAND
On Jan. 6, in Bethlehem, the Catholic Church celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany, while on the same date the Orthodox Churches following the Eastern calendar celebrated the Feast of Christmas. On Jan. 7, on the banks of the Jordan River, Latin-rite Christians of the Holy Land, together with Franciscan friars, celebrated the Baptism of Jesus.

In December, updates on the ongoing archaeological excavations in the basilica were presented to the leaders of the Christian communities guarding the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem at St. Savior's Convent. A new phase of work now opens.

A new auxiliary bishop for the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Br. Bruno Varriano. for many years superior of Nazareth, will now turn his new ministry to the service of Latin Christians in Cyprus.
