Benedictine Community in prayer for peace

At the Basilica of the Dormition, Benedictine monks have organized a full day of prayer. In front of the cross located in the apse of the church, psalms were recited throughout the day. Fr NIKODEMUS SCHNABEL, osb Abbot - Dormition Abbey of Jerusalem I lack words for what is happening and what has happened. And so we borrow these very ancient words from the Psalms that refer to "our daily spiritual bread." We remain under the cross because, as Latin Patriarch Emeritus Michel Sabbah has said many times, we in Jerusalem are the church under the cross! A choice that of the Psalms that unites all three monotheistic religions. Fr NIKODEMUS SCHNABEL, osb Abbot - Dormition Abbey of Jerusalem And pray the Psalms for all human beings here. It doesn't matter whether they are Jews, Christians, Muslims or whether they are atheists. I believe, and this is what Christians believe, that every human being is created in the image of God. Students and volunteers follow one another in reading the psalms that deeply touch all human feelings: fear, lament, anger, sadness but also hope but above all gratitude and trust in God. Fr NIKODEMUS SCHNABEL, osb Abbot - Dormition Abbey of Jerusalem I pray these days not only for the victims and the people who are grieving, but also for the perpetrators. Because I think the most unthinkable thing you can do, as a human being, is to kill another human being.
