The "numbers" of Christians in Israel

According to data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics in Israel for 2021, Christians living in the country are about 182 thousand, 1.9 percent of the total population. The growth rate compared to the previous year is 1.4 percent. 76.7% of Christians are Arabs and most of them live in the northern regions. The largest community is in Nazareth (21,400 people). Among non-Arab Christians, 41.7 percent live in the Tel Aviv area. In 2019, 803 marriages were registered: for men, the average age is 30.3 years, for women 26.7 years. In 2020, 2,497 children were born in Christian families, while the number of children up to 17 years old in each family averaged 1.93, a lower figure than in Jewish (2.43) and Muslim (2.60) families. In the 2020/21 school year, there were 27,044 Christian students in primary and secondary school, 1.4 percent of the country's students. 53.1 percent of Arab Christians and 35.4 percent of non-Arab Christians completed college studies within eight years of graduating from high school, compared to 34 percent of high school graduates in the Arab school system and 47.2 percent in the Jewish school system. The percentage of women among Christian students is also higher than average. The labor market participation rate for Christians (aged 15 and over) in 2020 is 64.6 percent (68.2 percent among men and 61.9 percent among women). Among Arab Christians, it is 53.7 percent (62.3 percent among men and 45.2 percent among women). Statistics show that 84 percent of Christians living in Israel are satisfied with their lives.
