A tradition which is repeated every year at Christmas and Easter. The delegations of the Orthodox Churches followed one another on Tuesday 23 April at the Saint Saviour's Monastery for Easter greetings to the Franciscan community. The main focus of the speeches of the Heads of Churches was mutual help and attention and prayer for the tragedy which so recently happened in Sri Lanka. The first was the Greek Orthodox. In the words of Patriarch Theophilus III, the condolences to the victims of Sri Lanka and the essential role of the Christian communities of Jerusalem. In his speech, the Custos of the Holy Land, Br. Francis Patton, referring to the tragedy of Sri Lanka, added that the "Resurrection becomes the source of our ability to love: this is important for those who come to these places". Among the communities visiting the custody, there are also the Coptic and Syriac communities. The Metropolitan Abba Antonius, head of the Coptic community, reminded us that Easter must be an important feast because "Christ changed history with the resurrection, opening our lives to eternal life" and invited to pray for the persecuted Christians. The Syriac delegation wanted to stress the importance of the weekly Easter for all Christians "despite the differences in the calendar, we keep focusing on what brings us together". Brother Patton asked to pray so that the Lord may give people of peace to create dialogue and peace, as it happened in the meeting between St. Francis and the Sultan Al-Malik Al-Kamil, since the Franciscans are celebrating the eighth centenary this year. The morning ended with a visit by the Armenian delegation led by the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, who urged not to forget about what happened to Notre Dame and in Sri Lanka. "Violence is never a way to solve problems," he warned, "but we can work to educate the new generations so that the dialogue does not involve only the leaders, but also the people. Only then can this immoral behaviour be replaced by love.
