A long-awaited day... Christ overcame death and rose again! On this festive Sunday, religious and pilgrims gathered for the Holy Mass presided over by the Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Mgr. Pierbattista Pizzaballa. The organ and the bells announce: Gloria! Jesus is risen. And the song of Hallelujah resounded in the celebration. The Gospel of St. John tells us that Jesus was buried and resurrected on the third day. And these events according to tradition took place here in the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. "We need to come back here to bring to this place our expectation and desire for life, to strengthen our faith in God's definitive yes to man," said His Excellency Bishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa in his homily. He also stressed "that we bring here before this empty tomb not only our experience of death and resurrection, not only our personal expectations, but also those of our community, our church, our people and those of the pilgrims and penitents who came here from all over the world. " In the Eucharist, Christ is alive and present in us. A Sunday of great significance for our faith. Br. VALDIR NUNES RIBEIRO, ofm Jerusalem "He is risen! And the resurrection of Jesus is also a joy for us, because it brings us hope. With Him we have risen every day while we live love, goodness and everything he taught us.” MELISSA CALSAVARA Pilgrim "For me, the risen Jesus is the one who brings me joy and renews my faith, strengthens me and makes me believe that I can continue to live, and we walk and believe and seek conversion every day.” SANTIAGO GODÓ Pilgrim "Being here is an opportunity to find God, to reconcile and to be a good person for others". At the end of the celebration, the Gospels of John, Luke and Mark were proclaimed around the tomb of the one who overcame death and resurrected. An event that brings us the hope that one day, like Christ, we will rise again.
