Franciscans have been present in the Holy Land for more than 800 years and through liturgy bring to the local faithful and pilgrims the deep spirituality of the places of Jesus' life, death and resurrection. The friars guard a good part of the Sanctuaries, which they care for, but they also care for the people, the "Living Stones" of the Holy Land. Another social work is the houses that we offer for very low rent to those who are most in need. The Custody has at least 1,000 people employed in the different activities." The Collection traditionally carried out on Good Friday is the main source of funding that makes it possible for the Custody to maintain its mission.
